Welcome To Odisha Tourism Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal is one of the most scenic and culturally rich districts of Odisha, known for its lush green hills, ancient temples, waterfalls, wildlife, and royal heritage. Located around 75 km from Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal attracts nature lovers, pilgrims, and heritage travelers throughout the year.

The district is famous for the majestic Kapilash Temple, dedicated to Lord Chandrasekhar Shiva. Situated atop the Kapilas hills at about 457 meters height, the temple can be reached through 1,352 steps or a scenic ghat road. Thousands of devotees visit during Mahashivaratri.

Another major attraction is Saptasajya, a peaceful hill destination surrounded by forests and waterfalls. According to mythology, the Pandavas stayed here during their exile. The place is ideal for picnics, trekking, and nature photography.

Joranda is the spiritual center of Mahima Dharma and hosts the famous Joranda Mela every year during Magha Purnima. Pilgrims from across Odisha gather here to witness the unique religious traditions of the Mahima cult.

Heritage lovers can explore Dhenkanal Palace, the only fort-cum-palace in Odisha. Built during the 19th century, the palace reflects royal architecture, cultural heritage, and traditional hospitality

Dhenkanal is also known for handicrafts, Dokra art, tribal culture, forests, and festivals like Gajalaxmi Puja. The district beautifully combines spirituality, history, culture, and natural beauty, making it one of Odisha’s most attractive tourism destinations.
